Review: Swanky Tunes at Playhouse

| February 13, 2012 | 0 Comments

Swanky Tunes certainly lived up to their reputation as one of the most explosive acts in house music at the Playhouse on Friday night. Known for creating some of the biggest tracks in electro and progressive house, the Russian DJ/producers rocked the deluxe nightclub and it’s capacity crowd for the weekly DirtySexyHouse party. With Playhouse’s combination of modern amenities and a state-of-the-art sound system, it continues to be a top Los Angeles destination for DJs from around the world. Pairing the special venue with budding superstars like Swanky Tunes, Friday night had all the makings to be the incredible success that it was.

The night began with a set by S.Co who continues to open for some of the biggest DJs in the world. His set carried more a minimal and tech-house vibe, but once he dropped his new remix dubbed ‘Wild Fire’, the excitement in the club was immeasurable. The crowd was clearly primed for the big room sounds of Swanky Tunes. After making the trip from Moscow, two of the three members (Vadim and Stanislav) from the Russian group began what would become an onslaught of energetic house music. Beginning with the ‘acapella’ countdown of  ‘Right On Time’ by Syndicate of L.A.W, the crowd was immediately pumped up and ready to party.

The energy continued throughout the entire set as Swanky Tunes had the Hollywood clubbers inside Playhouse going absolutely wild. The pair stood at the controls of one of the best sound systems in the world, and flawlessly performed for hours playing the best anthems, new and old, house music has to offer. Blasting everything from Avicii and Swedish House Mafia to unreleased collaborations and remixes, Swanky Tunes threw an incredible party. Showcasing their ‘big & swanky’ sound – which often times shook the dance floor – Friday’s set demonstrated why their productions are some of the most heavily supported in the world. Swanky Tunes created an unparalleled, energetic atmosphere inside Playhouse, further validating their rise to the top of the electronic music industry. Be sure to keep an eye on this super-star group, as 2012 promises to be bigger and louder than last year.
